- Develop quantitative models to estimate the economic, budgetary and social
impact of proposed legislation. Findings have been used in hundreds of news
articles and by most major newspaper editorial pages, including The Wall
Street Journal and New York Times.
- Research and publish Committee reports on a range of policy issues,
including estate and income taxes, risk management and insurance
reform, virtual worlds, tort reform, health care, and federal
spending.
- Work on cross-functional legislative teams consisting of staff from House
and Senate, Republican and Democrat offices, as well as industry and interest
group representatives
- Guided a pension reform bill, in conjunction with other committees,
through the U.S. House of Representatives by utilizing legislative, analytical
and coalition-building skills, culminating in the passage of H.R. 1594 (104th
Congress) by a 60 vote margin (239 to 179).
- Communicate research and recommendations via individual briefings for
members of Congress and the media, and through public debate and
speeches.
